MAINTENANCE (M)
 Visually check that thrust reverser has no visible damage, and that thrust reverser sleeve is in alignment.
 To lock the thrust reverser in the forward thrust position, refer to the appropriate MAINTENANCE (M) procedure in Item 78-31-1.
 Notify dispatch that a thrust reverser is inoperative. OPERATIONS (O)
For airplane performance calculations that include the effect of Reverse Thrust, adjust performance to account for the inoperative Thrust Reverser.

If the ENG OIL SEAL message appears sporadically it may be treated as a nuisance message unless a malfunction is confirmed by some other parameter, such as a rise in temperature or high oil consumption, or unless it occurs on five consecutive flights. For nuisance messages, see item 31-61-4, “EICAS Status Messages.”
OPERATIONS (O)
Confirm that the associated bearing scavenge valve operates normally:
 Check that the associated L(R) OIL SCAV OPEN Maintenance message does not appear on the ECS/ MSG EICAS Maintenance page.
 Check that the associated L(R) OIL SCAV VAL Status message does not appear on the EICAS Status page.
If either of these messages does appear, dispatch is not permitted.

(O) One may be inoperative open provided:
 Associated oil seal is not leaking, and

Confirm that the oil seal is not leaking by checking the EICAS status page. If the associated L or R ENG OIL SEAL message is displayed, dispatch is not permitted. If the associated L or R OIL SCAV VAL message is displayed, dispatch is not permitted.
Confirm that #4 Bearing Scavenge Valve is open by performing the following procedure:
