H. Make sure the EICAS circuit breakers (6 locations) are closed.
I. Supply electrical power (Ref AMM 24-22-00).
J. Supply hydraulic pressure to the engine thrust reverser system (Ref AMM 29-11-00).
K. Move the EEC POWER switch on the EEC Maintenance Panel (P61) to the ALTN position.
L. Make sure that the “REV” indication, and the L(R) REV ISLN VAL advisory message do not show
on the EICAS.
NOTE: Airplanes with -502 EICAS computers have a REV ISLN VAL advisory message.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THE AREA AROUND THE THRUST REVERSERS ARE CLEAR OF PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT. THE STEPS THAT FOLLOW WILL CAUSE THE THRUST REVERSERS
 
TO EXTEND. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN AMM 27-61-00/201 TO DEACTIVATE THE SPOILER/SPEEDBRAKE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
 Move the reverse thrust lever to the interlock position.
 Make sure that the L(R) REV ISLN VAL advisory message does not show on the EICAS.
 Make sure that the green REV indication does show on the EICAS.
 Move the reverse thrust lever to the forward idle position.
 Make sure that the L(R) REV ISLN VAL advisory message and the L(R) REV STOW SIG status message are not shown on the EICAS.
5. If thrust reverser has been deactivated, verify thrust control operates normally:
 Advance thrust levers to the full forward position.
 Verify that the Thrust Lever Resolver (TLR) measurements on the EICAS EPCS page read between 80.5 and 83 degrees.
 Move the thrust levers to the idle position.
 Verify that the TLR measurements on the EICAS EPCS page read 38+/- 0.25 degrees.
 Verify that the thrust reverser position (RVA) measurement on the EICAS EPCS page reads 0 +/- 2.0 for the PRI and SEC channels of both EECs.
 Move the EEC POWER switch to the NORM position.
OPERATIONS (O)
For airplane performance calculations that include the effect of reverse thrust, adjust performance to account for an inoperative thrust reverser.
After engine start, if EPR is displayed, advance the thrust lever until EPR equals 1.1. Then retard the
thrust lever to idle. If EPR remains displayed, engine thrust can be set by using EPR as the thrust setting parameter. If EPR blanks, dispatch is allowed per this item and MEL Item 77-11-1.
 
NOTE: This procedure will verify whether the EEC is operating in the EPR or N1 control mode. Some EEC faults are inhibited until the engine is running and above idle.
When the primary EEC channel is inoperative, the engine will operate in the N1 control mode. Set thrust and adjust performance limited weights using information provided in the QRH Alternate Thrust Setting Method (%N1 RPM) appendix. Observe QRH limitations. Autothrottle use is prohibited. Autoland capability will be affected.
