OPERATIONS (O)
Ensure instruments are operating from isolated sources as follows:
NOTE: Do not move inoperative switches during flight.
1. FMC or NAV Switch:
Position an operative NAV source select switch to the offside FMC.
If both pilots are operating from the same FMC, a green FMC L or FMC R annunciation will appear in the lower center portion of the HSI.
Return the NAV source select switch to the original selection.
2. EFI Switch:
Using HSI control panels, select VOR mode on Captain’s side, ILS or APP mode, as applicable, on First Officer’s side.
Observe that selected modes are displayed on each HSI.
3. IRS Switch:
Place only center IRS mode selector switch in ALIGN position.
Observe that at least one ADI has normal background (shaded sky and ground). If background shading is lost on both ADI’s, both are using the center IRS.
