Speed Brake Load Alleviation System (with Blended Winglet):
The Speed Brake Load Alleviation System may be inoperative due to mechanical failures, electrical failures (including failure of the system actuator under the center control stand), or due to the Speedbrake Autostow Controller (SAC) giving an autostow fault. In any of these cases:
1. Open and collar SPDBRK AUTOSTOW circuit breaker K22 on the P6-4 panel.
2. Open AUTO SPEEDBRK circuit breaker on the P11 panel.
3. Remove the airplane harness connector from the Speedbrake Autostow Controller (SAC), and remove the cover from the adjacent test connector.
4. Install the airplane harness connector on the adjacent test connector and install the test cover on the SAC connector.
5. Close AUTO SPEEDBRK circuit breaker on the P11 panel.
6. Verify that speedbrake handle forces are normal from the full down position to the full up position.
7. Notify dispatch. Allowable takeoff weight or maximum airspeed may be reduced.

Observe MMEL takeoff and landing limitations.

Observe MEL inflight limitations for flight spoilers inoperative.
NOTE 1: Disregard the SPOILER amber light on the overhead panel and the SPOILER message on EICAS.
NOTE 2: When landing with flight spoilers inoperative, the normal landing checklist should be changed from SPEEDBRAKE ARMED to SPEEDBRAKE DOWN. This will prevent auto spoiler operation on landing.

NOTE 3: For landing with flight spoilers inoperative, the airplane nose should be lowering to the runway before spoilers are deployed.

1. Open and collar AUTO SPEEDBRK circuit breaker on overhead circuit breaker panel P11.
2. AUTO SPDBRK light on overhead panel will illuminate - place tape over the light or remove bulb.
3. Open and collar SPDBRK AUTOSTOW circuit breaker K22 on the P6-4 panel.
