NOTE: This relief does not apply if spoiler panel is detached from the actuator and could float up or is not in the retracted position.

PLACARD
Near annunciation panel as appropriate - SPOILERS (X and Y) INOP
For inoperative flight spoilers, placard airplane flight log - DO NOT EXCEED 270 KIAS OR .70M
For inoperative Speed Brake Load Alleviation System, placard airplane flight log - SPEEDBRAKE LOAD ALLEVIATION SYS INOP. If takeoff weight exceeds 100,561 kg, also add placard - OBSERVE AIRSPEED LIMITATIONS
MAINTENANCE (M)
WARNING: TO PREVENT INJURY OR DAMAGE, CLEAR PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT FROM CONTROL SURFACES BEFORE PROVIDING HYDRAULIC POWER. KEEP AREA CLEAR WHEN OPERATING CONTROL SURFACES.
1. Once each flight day, ensure that all operative spoilers operate correctly (no more than one spoiler pair can be inoperative).
A. Turn the control wheel full counterclockwise (left). Ensure that operative left wing spoilers extend.
NOTE: Spoilers 1, 2, 3 and 5 will extend approximately 45°. Spoiler 6 will extend approximately 30° (panel 4 will not extend).
B. Center the control wheel. Ensure that operative left wing spoilers retract.
C. Turn the control wheel full clockwise (right). Ensure that operative right wing spoilers extend.
NOTE: Spoilers 8, l0, 11 and 12 will extend approximately 45 degrees. Spoiler number 7 will extend approximately 30 degrees (panel 9 will not extend).
D. Center the control wheel. Ensure that operative right wing spoilers retract.
E. Place speed brake lever in the UP position. Ensure that all operative spoilers operate normally (panels 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 10, 11 and 12 will extend approximately 45°; panels 6 and 7 will extend approximately 30°; panels 4 and 9 will extend approximately 55°).
