Near each pilot’s airspeed indicator - RUDDER PEDAL NOSE WHL STEer INOP
MAINTENANCE (M)
1. Verify that rudder pedal interconnect mechanism failure will not jam other system controls:
Visually inspect mechanism below flight compartment floor for broken or disconnected components.
Displace rudder pedals full travel in both directions to ensure that pedals move freely.
2. Test tiller steering system as follows:
Install downlocks for the Nose and Main Landing Gear (AMM 32-00-20/201).
Open the Doors for the Nose and Main Landing Gear and install the Door Lock (AMM 32-00-15/ 201).
Disconnect Nose Gear Torque Links and stow them to avoid any interference when the Nose Gear Tiller is moved full left and right.
Pressurize the Left Hydraulic System.
Using Captain’s Tiller, operate steering through full left and right envelope and verify that no system binding occurs.
Depressurize the Left hydraulic System.
Reconnect Nose Gear Torque Links.
Restore airplane to its required configuration. OPERATIONS (O)
CAUTION: PILOTS MUST USE CAUTION WHEN USING THE NOSE WHEEL STEERING TILLER
(WHEEL) ABOVE 20 KNOTS TO AVOID OVER-CONTROLLING THE NOSE WHEELS RESULTING IN POSSIBLE LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL.
Flight crewmember with access to the tiller will be flying and the following procedures shall be used:
B757 - 200 MINIMUM EQUIPMENT LIST
Takeoff:
The crewmember should steer the airplane, manipulating the Nose Wheel Steering Tiller, until the rudder becomes effective (approximately 40 to 60 kts). The crewmember not flying should assist by keeping the wings level and a light forward pressure on the control column until the tiller is no longer required for steering.
Landing:
The crewmember with access to the Tiller should use the rudder and Steering Tiller as required during the landing roll. The other crewmember should assist by keeping the wings level and a forward pressure on the control column.
