MAINTENANCE (M)
Maintenance personnel should be familiar with standard safety precautions regarding working around the landing gear as noted throughout the Maintenance Manual. Proximity Sensor Actuator/Deactuator set A27092-61 should be used throughout this procedure to simulate the desired position of the sensors.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO PERSONS OR EQUIPMENT AROUND THE NOSE OR MAIN LANDING GEAR BEFORE YOU OPEN THE DOORS. THE DOORS OPEN AND CLOSE QUICKLY AND CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO
EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: DO NOT HOLD THE “ALL DOORS OPEN” SWITCHES IN THE “ARM” AND “OPEN”
POSITIONS FOR MORE THAN TWO (2) SECONDS. IF YOU HOLD THE SWITCHES TOO LONG, THE POWER PACK CAN BECOME TOO HOT, AND CAN CAUSE THE ALTERNATE EXTENSION SYSTEM TO NOT OPERATE.
1. For one Nose Gear Up sensor inoperative, verify Nose Gear Door Sensors operate normally as follows:
A. Locate Proximity Switch Electronics Unit (PSEU) in main E/E equipment center.
B. Perform PSEU BITE test.
C. If faults are displayed, verify that they are Nose Gear Up faults only.
D. Open gear doors.
E. Verify GEAR DOORS message (Advisory) is displayed on EICAS after 35 seconds.
F. Place targets on the following sensors to simulate the main gear doors being closed:
System 1 Right Gear Door Closed S10241.
System 2 Right Gear Door Closed S10072.
System 1 Left Gear Door Closed S10242.
System 2 Left Gear Door Closed S10076.
System 1 Nose Gear Door Closed S10243.
System 2 Nose Gear Door Closed S10081.
G. Verify that GEAR DOORS EICAS message (Advisory) is not displayed.
H. Remove the targets from S10243 and S10081 Nose Gear Door closed sensors.
I. Verify that GEAR DOORS EICAS message (Advisory) is displayed after 35 seconds.
J. Remove all targets.
2. For inoperative Main Gear Up and Locked Sensors, do the following:
A. Verify Main Gear Door Closed Sensors operate normally as follows:
Perform the PSEU BITE test.
Verify that no Main Gear Door sensors are faulted.
Open gear doors.
Verify that GEAR DOORS (Advisory) message is displayed on EICAS after 35 seconds.
Place targets on the following sensors to simulate gear doors being closed: a. System 1 Nose Gear Door Closed S10243.
