NOTE 1: Subitem 3: Fuel Quantity Densitometers have in the past caused 1) blanking of the flight deck fuel quantity indicators and, 2) fluctuation of flight deck fuel quantity indicators. If a densitometer is inoperative or deactivated, FQIS system with an inoperative densitometer will revert to an internal density standard of 0.81 kg per liter. The system will continually meet accuracy specifications with failed densitometers.
NOTE 2: MEL relief for the following combinations of FQIS and other inoperative equipment may be limited or not allowed. Refer to each MEL item.
FQIS and 28-22-1 Main Tank Fuel Pumps Inoperative: Relief limited or not allowed FQIS and 28-22-2 Center Tank Fuel Pumps Inoperative:Relief limited or not allowed

1. To verify that the Fuel Quantity in associated Tank, accomplish one of the following procedures as appropriate:
A. Check the associated tank fuel quantity indicator on the fuel control P28 panel. If it operates normally, it may be used as the means of determining the quantity in the tank with the inoperative indicator. If it is not operating, placard it inoperative and notify the fuel crew that the automatic fueling shutoff function may be inoperative.
B. Determine the associated tank’s fuel quantity utilizing measuring sticks and the Fuel Measuring Stick Manual provided with the airplane.
