AUXILIARY AC HYDRAULIC SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General_______
A. This procedure has one task. This task is a system test of the auxiliary AC hydraulic system.
B. You must open the doors in the trailing edge fairing to get access to do this test. You must pressurize the hydraulic system with the engine-driven pump (EDP) and the air-driven pump (ADP) in this test.

Procedure
S 015-001
(1)
Open the doors in the trailing edge fairing (AMM 54-62-00/201).
(2)
Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE THE PUMPS IN A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM WHEN THE SYSTEM
_______ IS TOO HOT. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PUMPS.
THE HEAT EXCHANGERS IN THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM USE FUEL TO REMOVE THE HEAT FROM THE HYDRAULIC FLUID. DO NOT OPERATE A HYDRAULIC PUMP FOR MORE THAN 15 MINUTES IF THERE IS NOT SUFFICIENT FUEL FOR THE OPERATION.
DO NOT OPERATE A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM FOR 20 MINUTES AFTER A SYSTEM BECOMES TOO HOT.
(3) Push the FUEL switch on the EICAS display select panel.

(4) S 865-023Make sure there is not less than 2000 pounds (900 kilograms) of fuel in the No. 1 or No. 4 main fuel tank.
NOTE:____ This fuel is necessary for the operation of the heat exchanger in the hydraulic system. This fuel weight is calculated at a fuel density of 6.7 pounds for each gallon.
(5) S 865-005Push the HYD switch on the EICAS display select panel.
(6) S 485-006Put the ammeter around one of the three wires which supply power to the auxiliary pump.
(7) S 865-007Motor the engine in the dry mode to pressurize the hydraulic system with the EDP (AMM 71-00-00/201 and AMM 29-11-00/201). (a) Make sure the HYD PUMPS ENGINE PRESS light, for the applicable hydraulic system, on the overhead panel, P5, is off.
(8) S 865-008Put the HYD PUMP DEMAND switch, on the overhead panel,P5, in the AUX position. (a) Monitor the ammeter to make sure there is no flow of current to the auxiliary pump.
(9) S 865-009Stop the engine (AMM 71-00-00/201). (a) Make sure the auxiliary pump starts when the system pressure decreases. (b) Make sure the system pressure becomes stable between 1800-3200 psi.
