Prepare for the Hydraulic System Heat Exchanger Leakage Check

WARNING: YOU MUST CAREFULLY DO THE FOLLOWING STEPS IN THE TASK BELOW TO
_______ INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS ON THE LANDING GEAR DOORS CAN CLOSE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1)
Make sure that the locks for the landing gear doors are installed (AMM 32-00-30/201)
(2)
Remove the pressure from the pneumatic system (AMM 36-00-00/201).
(3)
Remove the pressure from the hydraulic system (AMM 29-11-00/201).

Get access to the tube connections for the heat exchanger:
(a)
For system No. 1, open the hydraulic access panel 573CB (AMM 06-09-08/201).
(b)
For system No. 2, the tube connections are in the wheel well for the left wing landing gear.
(c)
For system No. 3, the tube connections are in the wheel well for the right wing landing gear.
(d)
For system No. 4, open the hydraulic access panel 673CB (AMM 06-09-08/201).

Disconnect the hydraulic tubes for the heat exchanger at the rear spar.

Drain the hydraulic fluid from the hydraulic tubes of the applicable heat exchanger (AMM 29-11-00/201).

Check the line for blockage with a low pressure dry air or nitrogen source.
(a)
Install an air pressure indicator at the outlet port.
(b)
Apply a dry air pressure source through a shutoff valve at the inlet port.

Pressurize the heat exchanger to 100 PSI.

Monitor the pressure gage to determine if a leak is present.
(a)
If the pressure gage shows a decrease in pressure, this indicates that there is leakage in the applicable heat exchanger tubing.

If you find leakage, replace the applicable heat exchanger
(AMM 29-11-22/401).

Put the Airplane Back to its Usual Condition.
(1)
Remove the air pressure indicators.
