(1) Open the fairing doors on the trailing edge of the applicable strut (AMM 54-62-00/201).

_______ OPEN THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM PRESSURIZES THE HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR. HYDRAULIC FLUID THAT HAS PRESSURE CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
(2) Release the pressure in the pneumatic system (AMM 36-00-00/201).

Release the pressure in the hydraulic system (AMM 29-11-00/201).

Remove the filter element for the case drain:
(a)
Remove the lockwire from the case (22).
(b)
Loosen the case (22) and remove it from the module.
NOTE: Do not remove the packing (29) from the case drain
____ module. A spring-loaded valve in the case drain module moves to seal against the packing (29) when you remove the case (22). If the packing (29) has a leak, you must replace the case drain module.
(c)
Remove the filter element (27) and the packing (28). 1) Discard the element and the packing.
(d)
Remove the lockwire from the magnetic plug (26).
(e)
Remove the magnetic plug (26).
(f)
Discard the packing (25).
(g)
Examine the magnetic plug for particles.
(h)
At regular intervals, check element and magnetic plug for contamination. If excessive amount of metal particles are found, replace associated pump, clean filter bowl and replace elements.
NOTE: Excessive is offered as a guide and relies on operator
____ and individual mechanic experience. Examine other system filters and magnetic plugs to gain a relative measurement between hydraulic systems. If particles are starting to accumulate quickly or becoming larger, this is the sign to examine or replace the hydraulic pump.
