A. General
(1)
This task does an air pressure leak check of these fuel system manifolds:
(a)
Engine fuel-feed manifold
(b)
Refuel/jettison manifold
(c)
Center Wing Tank (CWT) interconnect manifold
(2)
This task does not check the engine fuel-feed manifold from the spar valve to the fuel pump on the engine.
(3)
The control pressure switch for the APU boost pump, S538, is connected to the fuel-feed manifold via a sense line forward of the MAIN 2 aft boost pump. When you remove the pressure switch and install the test equipment you can pressurize the engine fuel-feed manifold.
(4)
A leak check of the refuel manifold can be accomplished by opening the defuel and shutoff valves at the pressure refuel stations. To do a check of the refuel/jettison manifold you must do a tank entry and install pressure test clamps on the M2/M3 refuel manifold drain valves.
(5)
A leak check of the CWT interconnect manifold can be accomplished by pressurizing the refuel/jettison manifold and opening the CWT jettison transfer valves.
