Start the defueling pumps on the fuel truck.

Monitor the defueling operation.
(a)
During the pressure defuel operation, the low pressure light for the override/jettison pumps can show.
NOTE: No maintenance action is necessary.

(b)
Monitor the refuel quantity indicators to find the fuel quantity in each tank during the full defueling operation.
(c)
Continue to defuel the tanks until the applicable indicator shows the specified quantity of fuel.
(d)
If you are scheduled to defuel the tanks fully, continue to defuel until all of the low pressure lights for the boost pumps come on.

Stop the Defuel Operation

Put these flight deck switches to the off or closed position:
(a)
Fuel pumps, on the pilots' overhead panel, P5: 1) Main tank boost pumps 2) Override/jettison pumps 3) Transfer/jettison pumps
(b)
Crossfeed Valves on the pilots' overhead panel, P5: 1) FUEL X FEED 1 2) FUEL X FEED 2 3) FUEL X FEED 3 4) FUEL X FEED 4
(c)
On the overhead maintenance panel, P461:
1) RESERVES 2&3 XFER
(d)
Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tags from the FUEL CONTROL switches.

Do these step at the left and right pressure refuel station:
(a)
Stop the defueling pumps on the fuel truck.
(b)
Close the manual shutoff valves for the fueling receptacle.
(c)
Close the manual defueling valves. 1) Lockwire the manual defueling valve handles.

(d) Disconnect the fueling hose and the ground cable (if it is installed).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE DEFUEL LEVER IS CORRECTLY POSITIONED IN THE
_______ RECESS ON REFUEL RECEPTACLE ADAPTER. IF THE DEFUEL LEVER IS NOT IN THE CORRECT POSITION, IT IS POSSIBLE TO DAMAGE THE REFUEL RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY. IF THE REFUEL RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY IS DAMAGED, A FUEL LEAK CAN OCCUR.
(e)
Put the defuel lever back into the recess on each of the refuel receptacle adapters.
CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE RECEPTACLE CAP. A FUEL LEAK CAN OCCUR WHICH CAN CAUSE A DANGEROUS CONDITION FOR EQUIPMENT AND PERSONS.
(f)
Install the refuel receptacle caps and close the access panels, 521BB and 621BB, for the fuel receptacle.
(g)
Close the access panel, 521CB, for the refuel control panel.

If you defueled the main tanks or center wing tank, do these steps:
(a)
AIRPLANES WITH A HYDROMECHANICAL SCAVENGE SYSTEM; Install the fuel strainers (AMM 28-15-00/201).
(b)
Close these valves with the manual override lever (AMM 28-31-04/401): 1) Jettison transfer valve for the No. 2 main tank 2) Jettison transfer valve for the No. 3 main tank 3) Left and right jettison transfer valves for the center wing
tank.
(c)
Close these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
1) P6 Main Power Distribution Panel a) 6E17 CTR R & MAIN 2 JTSN VLV b) 6F17 CTR L & MAIN 3 JTSN VLV
I. Drain the Remaining Fuel

(1) Put an approved container near the outlet for the sump drain valve.
