 (c)  Main tank transfer valves open if either inboard main tank contains less than 20,000 pounds (9075 kilograms). Fuel level is input to fuel jettison control card from main tank single point sensor card.
As the fuel jettison operation progresses, fuel in No. 2 and No. 3 reserve tanks transfers inboard automatically for fuel jettison when fuel quantity in the applicable inboard main tank decreases to below 6,000 U.S. gallons (22,710 liters).The fuel jettison operation can be terminated at the discretion of the operator by closing the two fuel jettison nozzle valves or putting the fuel jettison control selector switch in the OFF position. If the operation is not terminated, fuel will continue to be dumped overboard until fuel quantity decreases to TO REMAIN value or standpipe level (approx. 28,000 pounds 12,700 kilograms), whichever is more.When the fuel jettison operation is complete or terminated by operator, the fuel jettison transfer valves will close and the override/jettison pumps will shut off. When fuel jettison reaches the fuel to remain value, the magenta digits change to flashing white for 5 seconds, then steady white. This shows that the fuel jettison operation is complete.

 B. Control
 (1)  
To operate the fuel jettison system, 28-volt dc and 115-volt ac power must be available on the airplane. It is assumed that all applicable circuit breakers are closed and that power is available to all fuel jettison system components.

 (2)  
Do the fuel jettison operation with the FUEL TO REMAIN knob as follows:

 (a)  
Set the fuel jettison control selector switch on the jettison module to A or B.


 NOTE: System operates identically in either position.

 (b)  
Monitor TO REMAIN fuel quantity on EICAS main screen. Select desired quantity by turning the FUEL TO REMAIN knob on the jettison module.

 (c)  
Set the two fuel jettison nozzle valve switches on the jettison module to ON.

 (d)  
Fuel jettison operation can be monitored on the EICAS auxiliary display fuel synoptic by pushing the FUEL button on the EICAS display select panel (Fig. 5).

 (3)  
Stop the fuel jettison operation as follows:

 (a)  
Set the fuel jettison control selector switch on the jettison module to OFF.

 (b)  
Set the fuel jettison nozzle valve switches on the jettison module to OFF.
