E. Prepare for Inspection

Defuel the fuel tanks (AMM 28-26-00/201).

Remove the left and right scavenge system fuel strainers from the rear spar (AMM 28-15-00/201).
NOTE: Air can leak out of the fuel-feed manifold through the
____ scavenge system if the fuel strainers are not removed.

Open the core cowls to get to the fuel pumps on engines No. 1 thru 4 (AMM 71-11-06/201).

Do these steps to drain the fuel from the main fuel supply line for engines No. 1 thru 4 (AMM 73-11-01/401).
(a)
Remove the drain plug from the engine fuel pump.
(b)
Drain the fuel into the container.
(c)
Remove and discard the O-ring from the drain plug.
(d)
Install the drain plug after you have drained the fuel.
(e)
Use a new O-ring lubricated with the petrolatum.
(f)
Tighten the drain plug to 45-55 pound-inches
(5.1-6.2 Newton-meters).
(g)
Install the lockwire on the drain plug.

(5) Install the air pressure leak check equipment:
NOTE: Use one of these equipment set-ups:
____ -G28018 air pressure equipment or,
-Air pressure check equipment set-up at the engine fuel pump (Fig. 602).
(a) If available install the G28018 equipment at the fuel quick-disconnect (service disconnect panel). 1) Connect the G28018 pressure check equipment to the air
pressure source at engine No. 1.

2) Install the G28018 test equipment at engines No. 2, 3 and
4.
(b)
To install the air pressure check equipment set-up at the applicable engine fuel pump, do these steps (AMM 73-11-01/401). 1) Disconnect the main fuel supply line from the engine fuel
pump.
