Remove the electrical power from the airplane (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Drain the fuel from the fuel line and the engine fuel pump. (Fig. 404).
(a)
Remove the drain plug from the fuel pump (View D).
(b)
Drain the fuel into the container.
(c)
Remove and discard the O-ring from the drain plug.

Install the drain plug after you have drained the fuel.
(a)
Use a new O-ring lubricated with the petrolatum.
(b)
Tighten the drain plug to 45-55 pound-inches
(5.1-6.2 Newton-meters).
(c)
Install the lockwire on the drain plug.

G. Remove the Coupling O-rings From the Fuel Line in the Engine Strut (Fig. 405)

(1)
Do these steps to remove the coupling O-rings and retaining rings:
(a)
Loosen the fuel tube clamp blocks and the saddle clamp, as necessary, to let the coupling components be removed.
(b)
Remove the lockwire from the coupling nuts.
(c)
Loosen the coupling nuts.
(d)
Push the coupling nut(s) away from the the fuel tube ends.
(e)
Remove and discard the coupling O-rings and the retaining rings.
(f)
Keep the other components of the coupling for the installation.

AT LOCATIONS WITH SHROUDED COUPLINGS; Do these steps to remove the O-rings and retaining rings from the shrouded coupling.
(a)
Disconnect the drain line from the union.
1) Remove the union and the O-ring.
NOTE: Keep the union and discard the O-ring.

(b)
Loosen the coupling nut.
(c)
Push the shrouded coupling body away from the fuel tube end.
(d)
Remove and discard the coupling O-rings and the retaining rings.
(e)
Keep the other coupling components for the installation.
(3)
Install dust covers on all open fuel lines.

CAUTION:_______DO NOT REPAIR THE FUEL TUBES IN THE STRUT AREA. IF A FUEL TUBE HAS DAMAGE THAT IS NOT PERMITTED PER THE ENGINE FUEL LINE DENT CRITERIA (AMM 28-22-07/601) YOU MUST REPLACE THE FUEL TUBE. A DAMAGED FUEL TUBE CAN LEAK WHICH CAN CAUSE A FIRE IN THE STRUT AREA.
(4) Inspect the fuel tubes and the couplings for damage
