(4) If you use a vacuum cleaner, make sure that:
-the filters are in position.
-its outlet is out of the aircraft to prevent contamination of a different area.
B. Clean with Cloth and Solvent
_______
WARNING : USE SOLVENTS/CLEANING AGENTS, SEALANTS AND OTHER SPECIAL MATERIALS ONLY WITH A GOOD FLOW OF AIR THROUGH THE WORK AREA. THESE MATERIALS ARE POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE AND SKIN IRRITANTS. OBEY THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS. PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. DO NOT GET THEM IN YOUR MOUTH. DO NOT SMOKE. DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS. GET MEDICAL HELP IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES BECOME IRRITATED.
-Do not get more solvent than is necessary for the task.
-Out of the aircraft, transfer only the necessary quantity of solvent from its initial container to small capacity cans (less than 1/2 liter).
-Never put the cloth in the liquid but always put the liquid on the cloth.

5. Types of Solvent
R You can use these materials only if there is a natural contamination. If these is an accidental contamination and you do not know the material that caused the contamination, you must not use solvents.
------------------------------------------------------------------| Natural Contamination | Recommended Cleaning Material | |------------------------------|---------------------------------| | Aircraft hydraulic fluid | Isopropyl Alcohol | | Fuel and Oil/Grease | (Material No. 11-010) | | De-icing fluids | or equivalent.( Refer to | | | the local regulations ) | |------------------------------| | | Anti-corrosion material | | | Dust | | |------------------------------|---------------------------------| | Accidental contamination | To be treated on a case-by-case | | | basis dependent on the chemical | | | nature of the material | -----------------------------------------------------------------

CLEANING OF WIRES - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
_______
1. General
This chapter gives the instructions related to the cleaning of cables that have surface contamination or in-depth contamination. The CML codes of the cleaning products are given in 20-55-10.
________2. Cleaning
-Use suction to remove the particles or a sponge to remove the liquids from the surface of the bundles.
-
Locally remove the ties in the area that has contamination (300 mm (11.8110 in.) approx). Estimate if the contamination is on the surface or deeper (the contamination agent goes deep in the bundle).
A.
Surface Contamination
-Do not remove the cable ties.
-Clean the bundles with a dry cloth or with a cloth moist with solvent. If you use a solvent, let it operate during 10 mn then clean again with a dry cloth.
-Install new cable ties in the cleaned area.
-Remove the old ties and clean their location.
____
NOTE : When the ties hold the bundle on supports, do not remove all the ties at the same time. Replace the ties support by support. Install a new cable tie at the same location. Clean the support or replace it if necessary.
