____NOTE : If you cannot break the kapton jacket, make the circular cut again.
R R - To remove the kapton jacket, pull it away or make a longitudinal cut before you remove it.
R R R R R (2) Crimping preparation - Move the Nomex approximately 50 mm (1.9685 in.) rearward (detail C). - Install the wire in the checking fixture (1/2 terminal). - Make sure that the kapton is in position. - Make a mark on the kapton at the fixture (detail D). - Put the Nomex in the checking fixture. - Make a mark on the Nomex at the fixture (detail E).
____NOTE : Do not remove the special grease in the terminal barrel.
(3) Crimping procedure
(a) Crimping in two operations
R R R _1 Wire core crimping - For method 1 with one sleeve (ABS0916): Install the heat-shrinkable sleeve (1) on the wire. - For method 2 with two sleeves (E0484 and E0718): Install the heat-shrinkable sleeve (3) on the wire. Install the heat-shrinkable sleeve (2) on the wire. - Remove the obturator. - Move the Nomex rearward. - Put the wire in the terminal until the mark is at the terminal. - Make sure that the crimping indenters or dies are correct for the terminal. - Install the terminal in the tool. - Fully operate the tool. - Remove the crimped terminal.
R R RR _2 Wire insulation crimping - Put the Nomex in the terminal until the mark is at the terminal. - Install the dies for wire insulation. - Install the terminal in the tool. - Fully operate the tool. - Remove the terminal. - Crimping is correct when the gauge marks show clearly.
(b) Crimping of size 6 terminal in one operation
R - Remove the cap from the barrel of the terminal that you will
R crimp.
- Install the heat-shrinkable sleeves on the wire.
R - Put the cable core with the Kapton insulation into the terminal
R until the mark is flush with the terminal barrel (detail D).
R - Put the terminal in the crimping dies (with terminal shoulder
R against stop).
R
R - Do crimping.
- Remove the crimped terminal from the MECATRACTION head.
R - Do a check of crimped connection before you do the insulation
R procedure with sleeves.
(4) Insulation procedure
____NOTE : Install the heat-shrinkable sleeve on the wire before
crimping.
(a) For method 1 with one sleeve (ABS0916):
- Install and retract the heat-shrinkable sleeve (1) on the
terminal.
- Make sure that the insulation sleeves are not too long (over
the terminal tongue)
(b) For method 2 with two sleeves (E0484 and E0718):
- Install and retract the heat-shrinkable sleeve (2) on the
terminal.
R - Do not install the second sleeve until the first sleeve is
R fully cool.
- Install and retract the heat-shrinkable sleeve (3) on the
terminal.
- Make sure that the insulation sleeves are not too long (over
the terminal tongue)
