Wire Crimping
(Ref. Fig. 017)
-Install the pin/socket contact in the positioner.
-Engage the stripped wire in the pin/socket.
-Make sure that you can see the wire conductor through the pin/socket hole.
-Fully close the tool handles until the safety ratchet releases.
-Remove the crimped contact.
-If sealing is necessary :
-heat shrink the sleeve installed before stripping.

Contacts Insertion/Extraction

The tools and standard process are discribed in the relevant
insertion/extraction tool chapter.
D. Clip Replacement DEUTSCH connectors (except size 8) incorporate removable contact retaining clips which can be replaced in case of damage. Replacement clips are identified as follows : 0143-013-000 for size 20 0143-004-000 for size 16.

-If sealing is necessary, install the heat-shrinkable sleeve on the wire before stripping. (Shrinking is made after crimping).
-Select the applicable tool.
-Strip the wire at the length "A".
D. Crimping Procedure and Tools

If necessary, install the reducer on the conductor.
(2)
Engage the stripped wire in the pin/socket.
(3)
Make sure that you can see the conductor through the pin/socket hole.
(4)
Install the pin/socket contact in the positioner.
(5)
Fully close the tool handles until the safety ratchet releases.
(6)
Remove the crimped contact.
(7)
If sealing is necessary
(a) heat shrink the sleeve installed before stripping.

(1) Normal wire

C. Crimping Procedure and Tools

(1) For E0378 and E0098 with wire gauge 00 to 0000.
(a)
For E0378, cut and remove the lockwire from the connector.
(b)
For E0098, remove the four screws from the square flange on the receptacle.
(c)
For E0378 and E0098:
-Unscrew the backshell (1) and slide it over the wire bundle.
-
Remove the housing (8) towards the front of the connector.
