C. Wire stripping
(Ref. Fig. 002)
____NOTE : Make sure that the metallized foil does not protrude by more than
0.5 mm (0.0196 in.).
D. Crimping procedure and tools
(Ref. Fig. 002, 003)
(1)
Make sure that the sealing sleeve (2) and crimping ferrule (1) are slid onto the wire (8).
(2)
Strip the wire to lengths "A, B and C".
(3)
Expand the braid (3).
(4)
Insert the stripped conductor (5) in the rear of the contact core (6) and crimp it with the applicable tool. Make sure you can see the stripped conductor (5) through the locating hole (8).
(5)
Install the crimped contact core (6) on the contact body (7).

(6)
Push the crimping ferrule (1) forward over the braid (3) against the contact body (7).
(7)
Crimp the ferrule (1) with the applicable crimping tool.
____
NOTE : Make sure that the wire (8), contact core (6) and crimping ferrule (1) remain correctly positioned during the crimping processes.
E. Sealing sleeve installation (Ref. Fig. 003)
(1)
Insert the crimped contact in the connector insert with the
applicable tool.
(2)
Slide the sealing sleeve (2) inside the connector insert cavity until it reaches the bottom. The sealing sleeve abutment must be in contact with the rear of the connector grommet.

TWINAX CONTACTS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
_______
1. General
The twinax contacts installed on aircraft have the codes that follow:
-ABS1111
-ABS1112
____________________________________________________________2. Connection procedure for twinax contacts ABS1111 and ABS1112
A. Layout (Ref. Fig. 001) ------------------------------------------------------------------------| | USE WITH | | CONTACTS |---------------------------------------------------| | | PLUG | RECEPTACLE | |------------------|-------------------------|-------------------------| | | ABS1340 - ABS1343 | E0162 | | ABS1111 | E0163 -E0165 | E0164 | | | EN3545-003 | EN3545-003 | |------------------|-------------------------|-------------------------| | | ABS1340 - ABS1343 | E0162 | | ABS1112 | E0163 -E0165 | E0164 | | | EN3545-004 | EN3545-004 | ------------------------------------------------------------------------
B. Contact insertion/extraction tools
(Ref. Fig. 002)
C. Stripping and crimping procedure
(Ref. Fig. 002, 003, 004)
-Step 1: Slide the sealing sleeve ABS0992 (1) on the wire (2). Make sure that the rigid part is on the connector side (or wire end).
-Strip the wire (2) to length "A". Make sure that you do not cut the braid (4).
-
Step 2: Slide the ferrule (3) on the braid. Make sure that the dimension "B" behind the ferrule, is correct. Make sure that the largest diameter is on the external sheath.
-
Step 3: Comb the braid strands (use tool: FACOM 270A or equivalent) and fold them over the ferrule (3).
-
Step 4: Cut the protection tape (5) as near as possible to the combed braid strands (6). Make sure that you do not cut or cause damage to the conductor insulation (7).
-
Cut and remove the filler (8) in the axis of the wire.
-
Cut the conductors to length "B".
-
Step 5: Strip the conductor (7) to length "C".
