When a standard electrical item is damaged, do these steps: - Find the damaged cable and its identification (P/N, type, sensitive/EFCS) - Find and correct the cause(s) of the damage. - Examine the wire to find the type of damage. Refer to para. DAMAGE ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE and to fig. TABLE OF DAMAGE ASSESSMENT.
____NOTE : Be careful when you examine wires for apparent damage. The insulation on some wires is almost transparent and you can see the core if the outer coating is missing. The outer coating is only for identification (color, marking). If the outer coating is missing but the insulation material is not damaged: - there is no effect on the electrical properties of the wire. - repair is not necessary.
 - You can have one or more repair types: Refer to the repair classification and select the repair depending on the repair grade.

Grade 0: no repair is necessary ( permitted damage).
 Grade 1: permanent repair.
Grade 2: a check of the repair is necessary at each C-check.
 ( Refer to chapter 20-52-10 ).
Grade 3: temporary repair only, replace with new wire in accordance
R  with the basic definition within 20 months but preferably
R  at subsequent C check.
Grade 4: no repair is permitted ( replace the wire ).
____NOTE : The repair types are in order of priority.
If you cannot do the lower-category repair type because the parts are
not available, then you must do the subsequent higher-category repair
type (example: start with "1A" and if you cannot do this repair type,
then do "1B" and so on).
 - Refer to the applicable repair type. Refer to para. REPAIR PROCEDURE and
 to fig. REPAIR PROCEDURE TABLE.
 - Do the applicable repair type. Refer to para. REPAIR PROCEDURE, to fig.
REPAIR PROCEDURE TABLE and for more data refer to chapter 20-53-29 GENERAL
 REPAIR PROCEDURE.
____NOTE : When the customer adds an item on the aircraft, he will give it a
 number from 9000 to 9999.
R  Example: Repair of the cables.
R  - Step 1: A FIN in the 9XXXVS series will identify the splice (for
R  example 9001VS for the first splice that the customer installs on
R  the aircraft).
R  - Step 2: The customer will install a sleeve on each side of the
R  splice with the 9XXXVS series number printed on it, in accordance
R  with the splice FIN.
R  - Step 3: The customer will raise a Customer Originated Change (COC)
R  to include the identified VS in the WDM (AWM/ASM/AWL).
