ALUMINUM WIRES TERMINALS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
R _______1. General Aluminum wire terminals installed on aircraft have the codes that follow: - E0223TL Copalum terminal (ex DAN392 and NSA936508) - E0422TR Copper terminal - E0466TS Aluminum terminal
________________________________________________2. E0223 (ex DAN392 and NSA936508) Copalum Terminal
A. P/N identification E0223 TL 01 04 | | | | | | | --------- Terminal gauge | | | | | ------------- Range | | | ----------------- Type Code | ---------------------- Standard P/N
B. P/N characteristics (Ref. Fig. 001) E0223 is used for APU start circuit.
(1) Temperature Maximum operating temperature is 130 deg.C (266.00 deg.F).
(2) Wire type This type of terminal is used only with aluminum wires which have the P/Ns that follow: - NSA935290YA - NSA935308YU
C. Connection Procedure
(1) Wire stripping (Ref. Fig. 002) - Strip the wire to the length A.
R R R (2) Crimping procedure (Ref. Fig. 002) - Put the heat-shrinkable sleeves on the stripped wire. - Remove and keep the meshed barrel of the terminal. - Install the terminal in the tool. - Operate the tool to hold the terminal. Be careful not to cause damage to it.

- Put the stripped wire into the meshed barrel then put this assembly
into the terminal and hold it during the crimping operation.
- Operate the tool until it disengages automatically.
- Remove the crimped assembly.
(3) Insulation procedure
- Install and retract the heat-shrinkable sleeve (1) on the terminal.
R - Do not install the second sleeve until the first sleeve is fully
R cool.
- Install and retract the heat-shrinkable sleeve (2) on the terminal.

A. P/N identification E0422 TR 04 01
| | | | | | | ---------- Range | | | | | -------------- Wire gauge | | | ------------------ Type code | ------------------------ Standard P/N
B. P/N characteristics (Ref. Fig. 003)
(1) Temperature Minimum operating temperature is -55 deg.C (-67.00 deg.F). Maximum operating temperature is 150 deg.C (302.00 deg.F).
(2) Wire type This type of terminal is used only with aluminum wires which have the P/Ns that follow: - E0438YV
- E0471QP ( 3 x YV gauge 6 ) - NSA935308YU
C. Connection Procedure
R R ____NOTE : If there is a repair, terminal E0466 is a temporary alternative for terminal E0422.
R R R Because this is a temporary repair only, replace the terminal with the basic definition at the subsequent C-check or in less than 18 months.
R R R R R (1) Wire stripping (Ref. Fig. 004) - Remove the Nomex braid for the length A (detail A). - Remove the kapton jacket (detail B): To prevent damage to the aluminum cable wires, make a circular cut around the kapton jacket but do not cut through its full thickness. Engage a tube or the terminal on the cable. Move the tube in the four directions to break the kapton jacket (30 deg. maximum circular travel). NOTE: If you cannot break the kapton jacket, make the circular cut again.
