 _________4. Procedure (Ref. Fig. 002)
_______CAUTION : DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO CONNECTOR CONTACTS WHEN YOU DO CONTINUITY CHECKS. DAMAGED CONTACTS CAN BECOME LOOSE AND CAN THUS INTERMITTENTLY PREVENT CORRECT CONTINUITY.
_______CAUTION : BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE WIRE INSULATION. IF THERE IS DAMAGE TO THE INSULATION, MOISTURE CAN GO INTO THE WIRE AND CAUSE CORROSION AND SUBSEQUENT FAILURE OF THE WIRE.
 A. Test for short circuit of an Aircraft Wire Disconnect the aircraft wire at the two ends.
 (1) Test between the wire and structure
R R  (a) Connect one of the ohmmeter probes to one end of the aircraft wire.
R  (b) Connect the second ohmmeter probe to a grounding point.
R  (c) Make sure that the current does not flow from the conductor to the structure (the indication on the ohmmeter does not change).
 (2) Test between two wires:
R  (a) Connect one of the ohmmeter probes to the wire to be tested.
R  (b) Connect the second ommeter probe to other wire of the connector.
R  (c) Make sure that the current does not flow through the conductors (the indication on the ohmmeter does not change).
 (d) Repeat this procedure as far as necessary to ensure there is no defect.
____NOTE : Shielding of shielded or coaxial cables must be tested as single wires.

3.
 Procedure

 A. Reflectometer test of a coaxial cable
 (1)
Disconnect the coaxial cable at one end.

 (2)
Connect the coaxial cable to the reflectometer.

 (3)
Make sure that the reflectometer shows a correct value
 (usually 50 ohms (+ / - 3 ohms)).

___________________________________________INSULATION TEST - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
 __________________1. Reason for the Job
R R R R R  _______WARNING : BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE ELECTRIC TOOLS IN AREAS WHERE THERE ARE RISKS OF EXPLOSION (FUEL TANKS, FUEL VAPOUR AREAS, ETC.). REFER TO YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS AND MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY THEM. SOME ELECTRIC TOOLS SUCH AS HEAT GUNS, SOLDERING IRONS AND TOOLS WITHOUT INTRINSIC PROTECTION ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THESE AREAS.
R
R R R  _______CAUTION : ONLY DO THIS TEST FOR THE ELECTRICAL ITEMS SPECIFIED IN THIS PROCEDURE. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE IF YOU DO THIS PROCEDURE FOR OTHER ITEMS.
R
To do an insulation test of: - AC generator feeders, - PMG cables of AC generators and excitation cables, - Battery feeders, - Transformer rectifier feeders, - APU starter wires. - Fuel pump supply cables.
