A. General
(1) Do this procedure to measure the scratches during :
-windshield inspection (Ref. TASK 56-11-11-200-001),
-fixed window inspection (Ref. TASK 56-11-12-200-001),
-sliding window inspection (Ref. TASK 56-12-11-200-001).

4. Procedure

A. Measurement Procedure
(Ref. Fig. 601/TASK 56-10-00-991-005)
(1)
Push the POWER/DATA key (3).
(2)
Press the START/STOP key (1).
-the detector moves.
(3)
Push the PARAMETER key (2) until parameter Ry is shown on the LCD (4).
(4)
Put the SURFACE TESTER (SJ201) in position on the window to make the detector travel direction perpendicular to the scratch.
(5)
Press the START/STOP key (1):
-the detector moves to measure the depth of the scratch
-when the measurement is completed, the measured value is shown on the LCD (4).
(6)
Because the depth of the scratch can be different along its length, measure the depth at a minimum of 3 locations along the scratch:
-at each end and in the middle of the scratch
- or more if it is a long scratch.
(7)
Compare the largest depth value measured with the scratch depth limit values given in the figure related to the scratch inspection (Ref. TASK 56-11-11-200-001) or (Ref. TASK 56-11-12-200-001) or (Ref. TASK 56-12-11-200-001).
(8)
When the power is off, push the POWER/DATA key and the START/STOP key
(1) at the same time.
-this retracts the detector.
