(d)
Install the washer (7) and the nut (6) to the damper housing (9) and tighten.
(e)
Install the cotter pin (10) to safety the threaded plug (9).
(f)
Apply STRUCTURE PAINTS (Material No. 16-003) to the surface of the damper housing (9).
(5)
Adjust the lateral skin offset as follows (refer to the sections A-A and B-B):
(a)
Open the Bulk door to get access to the stop bolts (2).
(b)
Turn the other stop bolts (2) counterclockwise until they touch the related stop fittings (1).
(c)
If the lateral skin offset is out of tolerance, turn the stop bolts (2) clockwise.
NOTE : The clearance between the stop bolts (2) and the stop
____ fittings (1) must not be more than 0.4 mm (0.0157 in.).
(d) Close the Bulk door and make sure that the skin offset is
correct.

(6) If the skin offsets are correctly adjusted, safety the stop bolts (2) as follows:
(a)
Install new lockplates (4) and the related nuts (5) on the stop bolts (2).
(b)
TORQUE the nuts (5) to between 2.0 m.daN (14.7492 lbf.ft) and 2.2 m.daN (16.2241 lbf.ft).
(c) Safety the nuts (5) with the lock plates (4). R **ON A/C 001-049, 051-099, 101-149, 221-221, 224-224, 228-228,

B. Adjustment of the Lateral Gaps
(Ref. Fig. 503/TASK 52-33-11-991-003)
(1)
If necessary, close the Bulk door and carefully set the locking handle to the locked position.
(2)
Make sure that the skin offset between the Bulk door contour and the fuselage contour is correct.
NOTE : The skin offset must be out of the wind.
____
(3)
Measure the lateral gaps "A" thru "F" between the closed Bulk door and the door frame of the fuselage.
(4)
If the lateral gaps are not in the limits, change the thickness of each shim set (16) as follows:
(a)
Make sure that the connection rod is disconnected from the fuselage fitting (Ref. TASK 52-33-11-820-003) to release the pre-tension of the balance mechanism.
(b)
If necessary, remove and discard the cotter pins (11) from the hinge bolts (14).
(c)
Remove the nuts (12) and the washers (13) from the hinge bolts (14).
(d)
Remove the hinge bolts (14), the spacers (15) and the shim sets
(16) from the forward and aft hinge frame of the fuselage.

(e) Add or remove shims of the shim set (16) to get the required thickness.
NOTE : Make sure that the procedure at the forward and aft hinge
____ frame is equivalent. If you remove a shim from one side of the hinge arm (17), add this shim to the other side.
(f) Install the shim set (16), the spacers (15) and the hinge bolt
(14) on the forward and aft hinge frames.
NOTE : Obey the installation procedure of the hinge bolts (14)
____
(Ref. TASK 52-33-11-400-001).
(g)
Install the washers (13) and the nuts (12) on the hinge bolts (14).
(h)
Make sure that the lateral gaps between the closed Bulk door and the door frame are correct.
(i)
TORQUE the nuts (12) to between 4.2 and 4.8 m.daN (30.97 and
35.39 lbf.ft).
(j)
Safety the castle nuts (12) with new cotter pins (11).
(k)
Attach the connection rod to the fuselage fitting (Ref. TASK 52-33-11-820-003).
(5) Make sure that the Bulk door is correctly closed and locked (Ref. TASK 52-30-00-860-008).
Subtask 52-33-11-710-055
C. Operational Test
(1)
Open and close the Bulk door to make sure that the balance mechanism operates safisfactorily.
(2)
Make sure that the Bulk door moves smoothly.
(3)
Close the Bulk door and make sure that the locking mechanism operates satisfactorily.
