(1) Obey the safety precautions for the operation of the APU (Ref. TASK 49-00-00-910-001).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1)
Energize the ground service network
(Ref. TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(2)
On the panel 25VU make sure that the APU MASTER SW p/bsw is OFF.
(3)
Make sure that there is a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(4)
Make sure that hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

D. Get Access
(1)
Put the access platform in position below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(2)
Open the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(3)
Make sure that the light SW 11LJ is set to the ON position.
4. Procedure

A. Installation of the Fan Assembly (8053KM)
(1)
Examine the fan discharge duct for cracks and broken welds. Replace the discharge duct if necessary.
(2)
Examine the fan inlet duct for cracks or damage. Replace the inlet duct if necessary.
(3)
Examine the fan stator vanes for cracks and damage.
(4)
Examine the mounting flange for damage or cracks.
(5)
Apply a thin layer of lubricant OILS (Material No. 03-002) to the new packings (14).
(6)
Install the new packings (14) on the transfer tube (13).
(7)
Install the transfer tube (13) into the cooling fan assembly (8053KM) (11).
(8)
Apply a thin layer of lubricant OILS (Material No. 03-002) to the new packing (12).
(9)
Install the new packing (12) on the cooling fan assembly (8053KM)
(11).
(10)
Remove the blanking caps from the ducts and the gearbox fan assembly flange.
