Put the access platform below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(2)
Open the APU access doors 315AL, 316AR (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(3)
Set the light switch 11LJ to on.

A. Removal of the Filter Element
(1)
Remove the air-pressure supply pipe (1) from the surge-air valve reducer (2).
(2)
Remove and discard the lockwire from the reducer and filter housing.
(3)
Remove the reducer (2) from the surge-air valve filter-housing (6).
(4)
Remove and discard the packing (3).
(5)
Remove the spring (4).
(6)
Remove the filter element (5).
(7)
Remove the filter housing (6).
(8)
Remove and discard the packing (7).
(9)
Put blanking plugs on the disconnected line ends.

B. Preparation for Installation
(1) Cleaning of the Filter Element
(a)
Soak the filter element (6) in warm soapy water.
(b)
Clean the filter element (6) with a soft brush and rinse the filter element with clean water.
WARNING : USE THE CORRECT PERSONAL PROTECTION.
_______ COMPRESSED AIR WILL CAUSE LOOSE PARTICLES THAT CAN GET IN YOUR EYES. THE AIRSTREAM CAN CAUSE CUTS, DO NOT POINT IT AT YOUR SKIN.
(c) Dry the filter element (6) with compressed air. NOTE : Control the air pressure supply to a maximum of 1 bar

(14.5037 psi).
(2)
Make sure that the filter-housing (6), the reducer (2), the spring
(4) and the air-pressure supply pipe (1) is in a clean condition.
(3)
Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(4)
Make an inspection of the:
-
filter and the spring for distortion, damage or corrosion.
-
filter housing and reducer for damage, corrosion or damaged threads.
NOTE : If one of the components shows distortion, damage, corrosion
____ or damaged threads, replace this component.
(5)
Remove the blanking plugs from the disconnected line ends. Subtask 49-51-52-420-052
C.
Installation
(1)
Install the new packing (7).
(2)
Install the filter housing (6).
(3)
TORQUE the filter housing (6) to between 0.62 and 0.68 m.daN (54.86 and 60.17 lbf.in).
(4)
Safety the filter housing (6) with lockwire-corrosion resistant steel
0.8 mm (0.032 in) dia.
(5)
Install the filter element (5). NOTE : Make sure that you install the conical end of the filter
____
element (5) first.
(6)
Install the spring (4).
(7)
Install the new packing (3).
(8)
Install the reducer (2).
(9)
TORQUE the reducer (2) to between 0.62 and 0.68 m.daN (54.86 and
60.17 lbf.in).
(10)
Safety the reducer (2) with lockwire-corrosion resistant steel 0.8 mm. (0.032 in) dia.
