D. Test the APU Surge Control System.
(1)
Examine the surge control valve area for air leaks (Ref. TASK 49-00-00-790-004). No leaks are permitted.
(2)
Start and operate the APU (Ref. TASK 49-00-00-860-003).
(3)
Make sure that the surge control valve Visual-indicator is in the OPEN position.
(4)
Make sure that the APU X-BLEED switch is in the AUTO position.
(5)
Do this Test.

1. On the panel 30VU:
-
push the APU BLEED pushbutton switch to the ON position.
-
push the PACK 1 and PACK 2 pushbutton switches to on.
2. IN the APU compartment:
-make an inspection of the surge control valve visual-position indicator.
3. In the cockpit:
-do a dry run on the main engine (Ref. TASK 71-00-00-710-001).
4. On the panel 30VU :
-release the PACK 1 and PACK 2 pushbutton switches to the OFF position.
-push the APU BLEED pushbutton switch to the off position.
On the panel 30VU:
-
the ON light in the APU BLEEDpushbutton switch comes on.
-
the OFF lights in the PACK 1 and PACK2 pushbutton switches go off.
In the APU compartment:
-
the surge control valve indicator isapproximately in the half openposition.
In the APU compartment:
-
the surge control valve indicator is approximately in the CLOSED position.
On the panel 30VU:
-
the OFF lights in the PACK 1 and PACK2 pushbutton switches come on.
-
the ON light in the APU BLEEDpushbutton switch goes off.
In the APU compartment:
-
the surge control valve position indicator must be in the open position.
(6) Stop the APU (Ref. TASK 49-00-00-860-004).
