D. The system has one AFOLTS card, and two fire detection control cards. Each detection loop has a fire detection control card.
E. When the airplane is on the ground, an APU fire indication is given on the APU shutdown module in the right main wheel well, as well as in the cockpit.
(1) When the airplane is on the ground and there is a fire warning, the APU fire extinguishing system automatically releases the extinguishing agent after ten seconds.
F. The detection system operates in OR logic. Thus, any one of the loops of
the system can sense a fire condition in order for an alarm to be given.APU Fire Detector Element

A. A detector consists of two sensing elements which are attached to a support tube by quick-release mounting clamps. Each element is a temperature dependent resistor(thermistor) whose resistance decreases as temperature increases. The detector is of coaxial construction, with the resistive material located between the inner and outer conductors.
B. The fire detectors are installed above and below the APU. One detector attaches to the aft APU vertical support tube; and the other detector is below the APU on an access door.
C. Both detection loops are connected in series from one detector assembly to another separately. Each end of detection loops are electrically connected to the M826 fire detection card file to control card YLPA021 and YLPA023.
D. Each loop provides the resistance rise necessary for the control card to initiate a fire alarm if the temperature along the entire detector rises to 410|35°F. An excessive heat (585°F) along any 1-foot section of either detector also will provide an equivalent resistance drop.
Fire Detection Control Cards

A. Each detection loop has a corresponding detection control card. These cards constantly monitor and process signals produced by each loop. The cards output alarm or fault signals to the automatic fire overheat logic test system card.
