(4) Push and hold the FIRE/OVHT test switch on the miscellaneous switching panel (P5).
NOTE: During the test, do not release the test switch until one of
____ these EICAS messages "FIRE TEST FAIL" or "TEST PASSED" shows. If you release the switch before the EICAS message "TEST PASSED" or "FIRE TEST FAIL" shows, the test will not be completed.

(5) Do a check for these conditions:
(a) The EICAS message TEST IN PROGRESS shows while the test continues. Make sure the EICAS message TEST PASSED shows when the test is completed.
NOTE: The EICAS message FIRE TEST FAIL can show as a result
____ of circuit breakers being open or a fault can exist on a related fire/overheat systems.
(b) Make sure these EICAS messages do not show:
1) FIRE ENG 1
2) FIRE ENG 2
3) FIRE ENG 3

The red lights on the engine 1, 2, 3, and 4 fire switch handles, on the pilots overhead panel, P5, come on.

(6) Push the red master warning light switch.
(a)
Make sure the red master warning light goes off.
(b)
Make sure you do not hear the fire bell.

(7) Release the FIRE/OVHT test switch.
(a)
Make sure the fire switch lights go off.
(b)
Make sure the EICAS messages do not show.

After the switch is released for approximately twenty seconds, make sure the status EICAS messages for the engine fire and overheat detection system do not show.

Put the airplane back to its usual condition.

3. Ground Test - Fire System

A. General
(1)
The ground test makes sure these components operate correctly:
-
the FIRE/OVHT Test Relays
-
the Afolts cards
-all wiring between the cards and the MAWEA card file
-
the EIU's
-
the Fire Detectors
(2)
This test does not do a check of the fire extinguishing system.
