 1.  General_______
 A.  Each lavatory has a smoke detector unit on or near the lavatory ceiling. When the concentration of smoke at the sensor is more than the set limit, the smoke detector unit makes an alarm sound.
 B.  This section has a procedure to do a system test of the smoke detection system in the lavatory. This test makes sure the smoke detector sensing, aural, and interrupt functions operate correctly.
 (1) The system test makes a check of all functions in the system.

 E. Smoke Test
 S 865-020
 (1)  
Make smoke adjacent to the smoke detector in the lavatory with an approved smoke source.

 S 735-021

 (2)  
Make sure these indications occur:

 (a)  
You can hear the smoke detector horn.

 (b)  
The ALARM INDICATING LIGHT (red) on the smoke detector comes on.

 (3)  Push and hold the INTERRUPT switch on the smoke detector.
 NOTE: If the smoke concentration is less than the set limit when
____ you hold the switch, the system will go to reset.
 (a)  
If the smoke concentration in the lavatory is greater than the set limit, make sure these indications occur: 1) The alarm does not make a sound. 2) The ALARM INDICATING LIGHT (red) on the smoke detector goes

 off.

 (b)  
Release the INTERRUPT switch on the smoke detector.

 (4)  Remove smoke and the smoke source from the lavatory.
 NOTE: The red alarm indicator light will go off and the alarm
____ horn will stop. If smoke is still present 60 seconds after smoke is removed or interrupt switch is pushed, the alarm horn will make a sound and the ALARM INDICATING LIGHT (red) will remain on. If there is no smoke present, the ALARM INDICATING LIGHT (red) will go off after 60 seconds and the alarm horn will not make a sound.

 (5)  Put the airplane back to its usual condition.
