ENGINE FIRE AND OVERHEAT DETECTOR - INSPECTION/CHECK

1. General (Fig. 601)_______
A. AIRPLANES WITH KIDDE DETECTORS;
Detector element inspection.
(1) Four detection elements (T681, T682, T683, and T684) are installed in each engine on the airplane. The detection elements are installed on the top aft, bottom aft, top forward and bottom forward areas of each engine. Deep abrasions, cuts or physical damages on the elements and support tubes should be noted as these are causes of internal damage to the element and failure of the support tubes. The electrical connectors should be properly installed and free from nicks, moisture or fluid contamination and corrosion to make sure the system functions correctly.
B. AIRPLANES WITH SYSTRON DONNER DETECTORS;
Detector element inspection.
(1) Four detection elements (TS681, TS682, TS683, and TS684) are installed in each engine on the airplane. The detection elements are installed on the top aft, bottom aft, top forward and bottom forward areas of each engine. Deep abrasions, cuts or physical damages on the elements and support tubes should be noted as these are causes of internal damage to the element and failure of the support tubes. The electrical connectors should be properly installed and free from nicks, moisture or fluid contamination to make sure the system functions correctly.
C. The detector element can be accessed after you open the thrust reverser halves and the core cowl panels.
