(1)
Close the circuit breaker 7F4 CREW REST SMOKE DET on P7 overhead circuit breaker panel.

(2)
Open the following circuit breakers on the P6 panel:
(a)
6L10, ENG 1 FUEL CONT VLV
(b)
6L13, ENG 4 FUEL CONT VLV
(3)
Set the ENGINE FUEL CONTROL switch engines 1 and 4 to RUN.

Set the ENGINE FUEL CONTROL switch to engines 2 and 3 CUTOFF.

(1) Apply smoke adjacent to the forward smoke detector by using approved smoke source.

(2) Observe the following conditions:
(a)
The smoke detector horn sounds continuously.
(b)
The ALARM INDICATING LIGHT (red) located on the detector comes on.
(c)
The EICAS message ">SMOKE CREW REST" comes on.

(3) Push either Master Caution light switch on the P10 panel to extinguish light and aural alarms.
(a) Make sure the alarm on the smoke detector comes on.

(4) Blow air through the detector to clear smoke.
NOTE: DO NOT PUSH THE RESET BUTTON TO VERIFY SYSTEM AS SYSTEM

WILL RESET.
(a)
The smoke detector horn stops.
(b)
The ALARM INDICATING LIGHT (red) located on the detector goes off.

Apply more smoke to the forward smoke detector.

Observe the following conditions:
(a)
The smoke detector horn sounds continuously.
(b)
The ALARM INDICATING LIGHT (red) located on the detector comes on.
(c)

(d)
Push either Master Caution light switch on the P10 panel to extinguish light and aural alarms.

Push and hold for five seconds the RESET button on the forward smoke detector.

Make sure these indications occur:
(a)
The smoke detector is silent.
(b)
The EICAS message ">SMOKE CREW REST", does not show.
(c)
The POWER INDICATOR light (green) is on.
(d)
The ALARM INDICATING light (red) goes off.
(9)
Repeat the procedure for the left and right smoke detectors.
