LAVATORY SMOKE DETECTOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. Two tasks are in this procedure. The first is the removal of the lavatory smoke detector and the second is the installation of the lavatory smoke detector.
B. A smoke detector is installed in the ceiling of each lavatory. The removal and installation procedures are the same for each smoke detector.

2. Remove the Smoke Detector (Fig. 401)____________________________________

C. Remove the Lavatory Smoke Detector

(1) Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a) P180 DC Power Distribution Panel
1) 180F18 LAV SMOKE DET-1
2) 180F03 LAV SMOKE DET-2
S 034-003
(2) Loosen the two screws on the smoke detector faceplate.
NOTE:____The screws are attached to the faceplate. Do not remove them.
S 014-004
(3) Remove the faceplate from the smoke detector case.

(4) S 034-005Remove the two mounting screws which attach the smoke detector case to the ceiling bracket.
(5) S 024-006Remove the smoke detector and the ceiling bracket from the ceiling.
(6) S 034-007Disconnect the electrical connector.
(7) S 034-008Hold the smoke detector case and disconnect the lanyard from the rear of the smoke detector case.

3. Install the Smoke Detector (Fig. 401)

(1)
Attach the lanyard from the ceiling bracket to the smoke detector case.

(2)
Hold the ceiling bracket on top of the smoke detector and loosely tighten the two mounting screws on the smoke detector case.

(3)
Connect the airplane wiring connector to the electrical connector on the smoke detector or case.
