MAIN DECK CARGO COMPARTMENT SMOKE DETECTION TUBING - CLEANING/PAINTING

1. General
_______
A. This section contains the procedure to clean the smoke detection tubing in the main deck cargo compartment.
B. There are 16 smoke detection zones in the main deck cargo compartment. Each zone has sampling ports located in the compartment ceiling to draw air in to sample for smoke. There are either five or six sampling ports for each zone. Air flows through tubes above the ceiling panels and outboard of the sidewall panels to the smoke detectors. There are two smoke detectors (mounted side by side) in each Zone.

D. Zones 1 though 8 have individual sampling ports to sample the air. Zones 10 and 13 through 16 have orifices located in a piccolo tubes attached to the interior of the ceiling panels. Zones 9, 11 and 12 use a combination of individual sampling ports and piccolo tubes for air sampling.
