 A. Tap Test CAUTION : TAP THE SURFACE OF THE COMPONENT LIGHTLY. IF YOU APPLY TOO MUCH

 FORCE, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE RADOME.

 (1)
 Tap the full surface of the inspection area with a TAP TEST TOOL (98A57103013000) in a grid pattern with a distance of approximately 10 mm (0.3937 in.) between the grids (Ref. Fig. 501/TASK 53-15-11-991-017)

 (a)
 If there is a clear resonant sound, the area has no debonding.

 (b)
 If there is a dull sound, the area has delamination/debonding.

 

 (2)
 Identify the damage area on the skin with chalk.


 5. Close-up

 A. Close Access
 (1)
 Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.

 (2)
 Close the radome (Ref. TASK 53-15-11-410-001), if necessary.

 (3)
 Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.

 (4)
 Remove the access platform(s).
