A. Preparation for Installation
(1)
Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a clean MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026).
(2)
Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(3)
Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.

B. Installation of the Refuel/Defuel Coupling Element Assembly
WARNING : USE SOLVENTS/CLEANING AGENTS, SEALANTS AND OTHER SPECIAL
_______ MATERIALS ONLY WITH A GOOD SUPPLY OF AIR. OBEY THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS. PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. DO NOT GET THEM IN YOUR MOUTH. DO NOT SMOKE. DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS. THESE MATERIALS ARE POISONOUS, FLAMMABLE AND SKIN IRRITANT. GET MEDICAL HELP IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES BECOME IRRITATED.
(1)
Lubricate the new O-ring (2) with FUELS (Material No. 01-001) or COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-012).
(2)
Install the O-ring (2) and the laminated shim(s) (3).
(3)
Install the element assembly (4) and the shroud-ring (5) in their correct positions.
(4)
Install the washers (6), the attachment tag (10) and the bolts (7). TORQUE the bolts (7) to between 0.3 and 0.34 m.daN (26.54 and 30.08 lbf.in).
(5)
Install the chain (9) on the attachment tag (10).
NOTE : The chain (9) is spring-loaded into a protective sleeve on the

coupling cap (8).

(6) Install the coupling cap (8) on the coupling (1). CAUTION : MAKE SURE THAT THE HANDLE OF THE REFUEL COUPLING CAP POINTS

Make sure that these dimensions are correct:

dimension 'a' must be equal at all positions around the coupling cap (8), +/- 0.5 mm (0.0196 in.)

dimension 'x' must not be more than 1.0 mm (0.0393 in.)
-
dimension 'y' must not be more than 1.0 mm (0.0393 in.)
-
dimension 'z' must not be more than 0.13 mm (0.0051 in.).
(2)
If dimension 'a' is incorrect:
(a)
Temporarily remove the access panel 622HB. (Ref. Fig. 404/TASK 28-25-41-991-006)
(b)
Remove the coupling cap (8) from the coupling (1).
