D. Install the Start Control Push-Pull Cable (Fig. 401).

(1) Prepare the start control cable.
(a)
Remove the rodend fitting, the checknut, the jamnuts and washers from the end of cable that you connect to the fuel shutoff quadrant in the strut.
(b)
START CONTROL CABLES WITH ADJUSTABLE END FITTINGS; Remove the rodend fitting, the checknut, one jamnut and one tabwasher from the lower end of the cable.
NOTE: The start control cable with the adjustable end fitting
____ can be used only with the cable support plate with a bearing.

(2) Install the start control cable.
(a)
Insert the upper end of control cable through the hole in the fan cowl support beam.
(b)
Move the control cable aft through the fan cowl support beam and the strut to the fuel shutoff assembly.
(c)
Connect the upper end of the control cable to the fuel shutoff assmbly. 1) At the upper end of the control cable, install the jamnuts,
the washers, the rodend fitting and the checknut on the cable. 2) Install the control cable on the support bracket. a) Push the control cable on the support bracket flange
with the flange between the jamnuts. b) Tighten the jamnuts. c) Install the lockwire on the forward jamnut and the
support bracket. d) Attach the support bracket to the fuel shutoff assembly with two bolts and washers. e) Install the lockwire between the bolts that hold the support bracket to the fuel shutoff assembly.

3) Connect the rodend of the control cable to the fuel shutoff quadrant. a) Put the rodend on the flanged bushing in the quadrant. b) On engine No. 1, install the retainer pin through the
large washer, the bushing and the rodend. c) On engine No. 2, install the retainer pin through the
cable retainer, the bushing, and the rodend.
d) Install the small washer and the nut.
e) Tighten the nut.
(d) Install the penetration fitting on the control cable to the support beam with the two bolts. 1) You can install the bolts with the boltheads on the inside
or the outside of the support beam.
NOTE: Do not apply sealant to the interface between the
____ cable and the penetration fitting until you have adjusted the control cable.
