Support the sprocket with one hand and remove the spline shaft, the bearings, and the spacers from the left end of the two hollow control shafts.

Prevent movement of the sprocket and chain in the bottom of the control stand.

Use a screwdriver with a 90 degree No. 2 Phillips bit to remove the aft screw for the chain guard.
(a) You can get access to the aft screw of the chain guard through the hole for the stabilizer trim cutout switch.

(a) You can get access to the remaining two screws of the chain guard through the side of the control stand.

Cut the safety wire on the nylon flap lever cam.

G. Remove the Short Control Shaft, the Flap Lever, and the Stabilizer Trim Indicator Crank.

Use the lockwasher removal tool to straighten the crimped tab on the cup washer for the short control shaft.
