 D.  Install the start levers.
 S 424-042-C03
 (1)  Install the start levers on the long control shaft.
 (a)  
Install the No. 2 start lever. 1) Push the dowel through the right support frame, the bushing, and the shim.

 2)  Push the long shaft through the left support frame, the bushing, the shim, the No. 1 start lever, the No. 1 thrust lever, two shims, and the No. 2 thrust lever.

 (b)  
Install the No. 1 start lever.


 1)  Push the dowel through the right support frame, the bushing, the shim, the No. 2 start lever, the No. 2 thrust lever, two shims, and the No. 1 thrust lever.
 2)  Push the long control shaft through the left support frame, the bushing, and the shim.
 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE NINE SHIMS ON THE LONG CONTROL SHAFT ARE IN
_______ THE CORRECT POSITION WHEN YOU INSTALL THE START LEVER AND THE LONG CONTROL SHAFT. THE CORRECT SHIM POSITION IS NECESSARY FOR THE CORRECT OPERATION.
 (c)  
Pull the long control shaft away from the dowel to install the start lever in the correct position.

 (d)  
Carefully push the dowel out with the long control shaft. 1) Put pressure on the dowel as you tap the long shaft into position to keep the shims in the correct positions.


 2)  You must be careful to prevent the cocking of the levers if you stackup or drop the shims during the installation of the long control shaft.

(e)  
Remove the dowel.

 (f)  
Turn the long control shaft until the keyway is at the top.

 (g)  
Install the cup washer.

 1)  Align the key tab on the cup washer with the keyway on the long control shaft.

 (h)  
Install the right nut on the long control shaft. 1) Tighten the nut to 200-300 inch-pounds.

 (i)  
Use the lockwasher break tool to bend the cup washer flange to hold the control shaft nut.

 (j)  
Remove the protective cover from the aft electronics panel.

 (k)  
Install the bolt, the washer, and the nut into the start link and the start cable drum.

 (2)  
Install the wire bundle clamps for the thrust lever.

 (3)  
Install the cable guard for the start lever.

 (4)  
Install the engine and the APU fire control module into the aft electronics panel (P8) (AMM 26-21-51/401).

 (5)
Install the protective cover on the aft electronics panel (P8).


 E.  Install the Short Control Shaft, the Flap Lever and the Stabilizer Trim Indicator Crank.

 (1)  
Remove the nut and the cup washer from the right end of the short control shaft.

 (2)  
Install the flap lever, the crank for the stabilizer trim indicator, the spacer, and the short control shaft as a unit.

 (3)  
Install the cable on the flap lever drum.

 (4)  
Turn the short control shaft until the keyway is at the top.

 (5)  
Install the cup washer.

 (a)  Align the key tab on the cup washer with the key way on the short control shaft.
