Do the deactivation procedure for the leading edge flaps (AMM 27-81-00/201).

Remove the left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/401).

Remove the access panel No. 6301 (left strut) or 6401 (right strut) from the upper aft surface of the strut (AMM 12-31-91/201).

Remove the access doors No. 5726 through 5729 and 5731 from the upper and side surfaces of the left strut (AMM 12-31-91/201).

Remove the access doors No. 5826 through 5829 and 5831 from the upper and side surfaces of the right strut (AMM 12-31-91/201).

Remove the forward fairing (AMM 54-32-01/401).

Remove the start control cable.
(a)
Disconnect the control cable from fuel shutoff quadrant in the fuel shutoff assembly.
(b)
Loosen the jamnuts on the control cable and remove the control cable from the support bracket.
(c)
Remove the jamnuts, the washers and the rod end fitting from the upper end of the control cable.
(d)
Open the clamp blocks in the strut structure and the fan cowl support beam to remove the start control cable.
(e)
Remove the clamp from the control cable in the fan cowl support beam.

(f)
Do a check for the P-clamp between the control cable and the EDP hydraulic tube. 1) If the P-clamp is present, remove the P-clamp between the
EDP hydraulic tube and the control cable.
(g)
Disconnect the penetration fitting from the fan cowl support beam.
(h)
Open five quick-release clamps on the engine brackets to remove the control cable.
(i)
Remove the aft cover from the fuel control box.
(j)
START CONTROL CABLES WITH FIXED END FITTINGS; Do these steps: 1) Disconnect the cable end fitting from the clamp links on
the fuel shutoff lever. 2) Loosen the jamnut to remove the control cable from the cable support plate.
(k)
START CONTROL CABLES WITH ADJUSTABLE END FITTING; Do these steps: 1) Disconnect the control cable from the fuel shutoff lever. 2) Remove the rodend, the checknut, the lower jamnut and the
tabwasher from the control cable. 3) Pull the control cable up from the support plate. 4) Install the tabwasher, the jamnut, the checknut and the
rodend on the control cable you removed. 5) Remove the lockwire and two bolts to remove the cable support plate from the fuel control box.
NOTE: There is a bearing in this cable support plate.

(l) Remove the control cable from the opening in the fan cowl support beam.
