 D.  Install the Start Lever
 S 424-012-C01
 (1)  Do these steps to install the start lever and drum assembly:
 (a)  Install the start lever and start control rod (3, 4 and 5, Fig. 406).
 NOTE: The levers are set from the right side to the left side
____ as follows: large spacer, No. 2 start lever, No. 2 thrust lever, No. 1 thrust lever, No. 1 start lever, speed brake crank with spacer on each side if necesary, and stabilizer trim indicator with spacer. Each thrust lever also has a spacer.
 1)  Move the left control shaft from the right side to the left side while you install the levers and spacers.
 (b)  
Put the cable on the start drum (Fig. 405) with the ball terminal engaged in the drum. 1) Lock the terminal in position with a wire.

 (c)  
Connect the start control rod to the start drum with the thick washer between the rod clevis and the drum on the left side. 1) Install the washer, nut and cotter pin.

 (d)  
Install the start drum shaft with the spacers and start drums. 1) Install the nut and cotter pin.

 (e)  
Install the left bottom access panel.

 (2)  Do these steps to install the left control shaft:
 (a)  Push the left control shaft against the dowel (6, Fig. 406).
 CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU PUSH THE DOWEL FROM THE CONTROL
_______ STAND. THE SPACERS CAN FALL AS YOU MOVE THE DOWEL.
 (b)  
Use the left control shaft to push the dowel to the left side until the dowel is free of the control stand.

 (c)  
Make sure the left control shaft extends 0.25 +0.06/-0.07 inches from the left control stand frame.

 (3)  Do these steps to complete the installation:
 (a)  
Install the key (9, Fig. 404) in the left control shaft and left control stand frame.

 (b)  
Install the nut (3) and tighten the nut to 200 to 300
 pound-inches.
 1) Lock the nut (3) to the frame with a wire.


 (c)  
Install the spline shaft (7, Fig. 404) and sprocket in the left control shaft. 1) Install the assembly with the long spacer and bearing at

 the left end.

 (d)  
Install the stabilizer trim chain on the sprocket and install the connector link (10, Fig. 403).

 (e)  
Install the trim control wheel for the left stabilizer (1, Fig. 404) on the spline shaft (7).

 (f)  
Install the right control shaft (11, Fig. 403) with the levers on the spline shaft (2). 1) Assemble the right control shaft with the cranks put in


 sequence from the left side to the right side, as follows: flap handle, spacer, stabilizer trim indicator, spacer and nut.
