 D.  Prepare for the Removal

 (1)  
Remove pressure from the A and B hydraulic systems and reserviors (AMM 29-15-00/201).

Set the thrust levers to the IDLE position.


 (a)  Put a clamp on the cable.

 (3)  Set the start levers to the CUTOFF position.
 (a)  Put a clamp on the cables.

Loosen the turnbuckles in the lower nose compartment to remove the tension on the flap control cables WFA and WFB (AMM 27-09-14/201 for the location of the turnbuckles).

Install the rig pin through the control drum for the forward speed brake into the structure (Fig. 401).

Adjust the forward and aft support links to lift the forward mechanism (Fig. 402).


 NOTE: This will remove the tension on the stabilizer trim chain

 assembly.

 (7)  
Loosen the turnbuckles in the electronic equipment center to remove the tension on the thrust control cables T1A, T1B, T2A, T2B (AMM 76-11-04/201 for the location of the turnbuckle).

 (8)  
Loosen the turnbuckles in the forward cargo compartment to remove the tension on the engine start control cables (AMM 76-11-04/201 for the location the the turnbuckles).

 (a)  
Disconnect the cables for the start drums, as applicable to the start lever to be removed.

 (b)  
Attach a tag to the cables.

 


 E. Remove the Start Lever

 (1)  Do these steps to remove the start lever:
 (a)  Remove the tie rod nut on the trim control wheel for the left stabilizer (7, Fig. 403).
