 (5)  AIRPLANES WITHOUT THRUST REVERSER SYNC LOCKS; Remove these throttle switches for the applicable engine. (a) The throttle switches S139 and S283 for Engine No. 1 (AMM 31-26-11/401, AMM 27-62-04/401). (b) The throttle switches S133 and S140 for Engine No. 2 (AMM 27-62-04/401, AMM 31-26-11/401).

 (6)  AIRPLANES WITH THRUST REVERSER SYNC LOCKS; Remove the autothrottle assemblies for the applicable engine (AMM 27-62-04/401): (a) Engine No. 1, M1639 (b) Engine No. 2, M1640

 (7)  Remove the attachment bolts for the torque switch mechanism. (a) Lower the torque switch mechanism and the attached cables from the support structure. (b) Remove the cable guards from the torque switch mechanism.

 (8)  With your hand, turn the cable quadrants to get access to the cable terminals in grooves 1 and 4. (a) Bend the ends of the cable terminal retainers approximately 90 degrees to loosen the cable terminals. (b) Remove the cable terminals from the terminal holes and remove the cables from the quadrants.

Bend the ends of the cable terminal retainers approximately 90 degrees to loosen the cable terminals.

Remove the cable terminals from the terminal holes and remove the cables from the quadrants.

 D. Prepare to Install the Torque Switch Mechanism

 (1)  
Remove the cover from the actuator mounting face on the torque switch mechanism.

Remove the cable guards from the torque switch mechanism.

 E. Install the Torque Switch Mechanism

 (1)  
Turn the quadrants of the torque switch mechanism to get access to the cable terminal holes.

 (2)  
Install a new cable terminal retainer in each of the terminal holes in the quadrants.

 (a)  Use corrosion preventive compound to hold the retainers in the correct position.

 (3)  Turn the quadrants counterclockwise until you can put the cable terminals in the grooves 1 and 4.
 (a)  Put the cable terminals into their holes.
