 (6)  If a start control cable or cables have been replaced, do the next steps.
 (a)  AIRPLANES WITHOUT THROTTLE CONTROL CABLE TURNBUCKLES IN THE
 FUSELAGE;
 AIRPLANES PRE-SB 76-1023;
 Adjust the cable tension to approximately 125 pounds (56.8
 kilograms) with the turnbuckles found in the forward cargo
 compartment and the wing leading edge.

 NOTE: Use a tensiometer to measure the cable tension.

 (b)  AIRPLANES WITH THROTTLE CONTROL CABLE TURNBUCKLES IN THE
 FUSELAGE;
 AIRPLANES POST SB 76-1023;
 Adjust the cable tension to approximately 125 pounds (56.8
 kilograms) with the turnbuckles found in the forward cargo
 compartment.

 NOTE: Use a tensiometer to measure the cable tension.

 (c)  
Move the start lever 25 times between the CUTOFF and IDLE
 positions.


 (d)  
Place the start lever in the CUTOFF detent.

Adjust the cable tension to the value shown in Table 501 for the applicable ambient temperature.

Increase the tension in the ESS1B/ESS2B cable for the reasons that follow:

 (a)  A 6.0 pound force (+2.0/-2.0 pounds) [2.72 kilogram force (+0.9/-0.9 kilograms)] is required at the start lever knob to move the start lever down from the detent face (Fig. 506).

Install the locking clips on the turnbuckles.

 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE VISIBLE PARTS OF THE CONTROL CABLES AND THE
_______ QUADRANTS IN THE WING LEADING EDGE AREA ARE NOT MOIST BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE ACCESS PANEL 6301 OR 6401. MOISTURE COULD FREEZE DURING THE FLIGHT AND PREVENT CORRECT SYSTEM OPERATION.
 (10)
 Install the access panel No. 6301 or No. 6401 (AMM 12-31-71/201).

 (11)
 Install the ceiling panels in the forward cargo compartment.

 NOTE: Measure all of the lever loads at the knob centerline,
