(2) Extend the leading edge flaps and install the flap locks
(AMM 27-81-00/201).
NOTE: You must extend the leading edge flaps to get access to the
____ engine control cables between the fuselage and the strut.

(3) You can get access to the engine control cables and the components of the engine control system through the access doors and panels in the fuselage and the wing.
(a)
Open the access door, 1103L, to get to the thrust lever and the start lever drums that are below the control stand.
(b)
Open the access door, 1201L, to get access to the forward fuselage turnbuckles and the two autothrottle mechanisms that are above the electronic equipment shelves.
(c)
Go into the forward cargo compartment, through the forward cargo door, 4404R, to get access to the aft fuselage turnbuckles through the cargo compartment ceiling (AMM 25-52-65/401).
(d)
For the left wing, open the access panel 6301L, to get access to the left wing cables at the strut control box.
(e)
For the right wing, open the access panel 6401R, to get access to the right wing cables at the strut control box.
(f)
For the left wing, open the access panel 6302L, to get access to the left wing cables at the wing leading edge.
(g)
For the right wing, open the access panel 6402R, to get access to the right wing cables at the wing leading edge.

(4) If you must examine the control cables and the cable pulleys, do this procedure:
(a) Refer to AMM 20-20-31/601 for the procedure to examine the control cable and the control cable pulleys.

(5) If you must replace the thrust control cables, do these procedures:
(a)
Refer to AMM 20-10-04/401, for the procedure to remove the control cable air seals 1) Remove Access panel 3478R to get access to the air seals.
(b)
Refer to AMM 20-10-41/401 for the procedure to remove the control cable grommets.
(c)
Refer to AMM 20-10-10/401 for the procedure to remove the locking clip on the control cable turnbuckles.
(d)
Refer to AMM 20-10-91/401 for the procedure to remove the thrust control cables.
