 A.  This subject has three tasks. The first task is an operational test of the inertial reference system (IRS). The second task is a system test of the IRS. The third task is an IRS self-test for scheduled maintenance.

 E. IRS Self-Test

 CAUTION:_______SOME SWITCHES MUST BE PULLED AND THEN TURNED. IF YOU TRY TO TURN THESE SWITCHES BEFORE YOU PULL THEM, YOU CAN DAMAGE THEM.
 (1)  Set the switches on the MSU to the ALIGN or NAV position.
 (a) Make sure that all of the annunciators on the MSU are off.

 (2)  Do these steps to self-test the IRS.
 (a)  
Set the SYS DSPL switch on the ISDU to the L position.

 (b)  
Set and hold the DSPL SEL switch on the ISDU in the TEST position.


 NOTE: Release the DSPL SEL switch from the TEST position and

 it goes back to the TK/GS position.

 Release the switch to stop the test.
 You will possibly have to do this step again to see all effects of the test.
 1)  For seconds 0-2, make sure that: a) The display on the ISDU comes on. b) The ALIGN, FAULT, ON DC, and DC FAIL annunciators on
 the left side of the MSU are on. c) The IRS master caution light on the captain's side of the pilot's lightshield turns on. 2) For seconds 2-10, make sure that: a) The ALIGN, FAULT, ON DC, and DC FAIL annunciators on the left side of the MSU turn off. b) The IRS master caution light on the captain's side of
