THE INDICATIONS OCCUR - Hold the UP/LT test switch on the No. 1 VHF NAV control
panel in the UP/LT position.
Make sure this sequence occurs:
These indications occur for approximately three seconds:

1.  
The GS flag and the RUNWAY flag show on the captain's ADI

2.
The navigation warning flag and the VERT flag show on the captain's HSI. These indications occur after approximately three seconds:


1.  
The GS flag and the RUNWAY flag on the captain's ADI go out of view

2.  
The navigation warning flag and the VERT flag on the captain's HSI go out of view

3.  
The course deviation bar on the captain's HSI moves one dot in the left direc-tion

4.  
The runway symbol on the captain's ADI moves one dot in the left direction

5.  
The glide slope pointers on the captain's ADI and HSI move one dot in the up direction.


These indications occur after approximately 23 seconds:
1.  
The GS flag and the RUNWAY flag on the captain's ADI come into view

2.  
The navigation warning flag and the VERT flag on the captain's HSI come into view.


Release the UP/LT test switch. IF -
THE UP/LT TEST DOES NOT OPERATE - Make IF -tion. Do the UP/LT self-test again. transfer switch to the BOTH ON 2 posi-No. 2 navigation unit. Set the VHF NAV sure the UP/LT test operates for the 

Replace the indicator with the defective THE UP/LT TEST DOES NOT OPERATE -display. Do the UP/LT self-test again. If the problem continues, do a trouble-shooting on the circuits for the trans-fer switches. (Refer to the Wiring Diagram Manual and the Radio Navigation Schematics.) 

THE UP/LT TEST OPERATES -Replace the No. 1 navigation unit. Do the UP/LT self-test again.

THE UP/LT TEST OPERATES - Set the VHF NAV transfer switch to the NORMAL position. Hold the DN/RT test switch on the No. 1 VHF NAV control panel in the DN/RT posi-tion.
