 14. DFCS Mode Control Panel_______________________
 A.  The DFCS mode control panel (MCP) is mounted on the glare shield, accessible to both pilots. The front panel is edgelighted and interconnection to airplane wiring is made by three connectors located on the rear panel. The MCP consists of control switches, indicators, electronic circuits, and status and mode displays generated by the flight control computer. The panel provides control of airplane heading, course, altitude, and speed. Additional description, operation and maintenance instructions for the MCP are provided in 22-11-01, DFCS.
 B.  The controls and indicators associated with the VOR/ILS navigation system are the captain's and first officer's COURSE select knobs and indicators. The left course knob interfaces with the captain's systems while the right course knob interfaces with the first officer's systems. Each COURSE knob provides 360 degrees of course setting per knob revolution in 1-degree steps. The COURSE indicators are driven directly by the associated COURSE knob.
 15. Digital/Analog Adapter Units____________________________
 A.  The digital/analog adapter (DAA) units are located on electronic equipment rack E1-2. Each DAA is a 1/2 ATR long unit with rack mounting provisions. Electrical connections are provided by a connector on the rear of the unit which mates with a rack-mounted connector.
 B.  The DAA units provide signal conversion from analog to digital and digital to analog to interface the IRS, FMCS, DFCS, DME, flight recorder, fuel summation, N1 indicating, VOR/ILS, weather radar, and electronic flight instrument systems.
 C.  The DAA conversions associated with the VOR/ILS navigation system consist of the following:
 (1)  Converts, during manual tuning mode, VOR/ILS and DME 2 by 5 analog tuning data to digital for transmission to the FMCS. The DAA distinguishes between VOR and ILS frequency by the localizer tuned (ILS 28V dc) discrete input.

 (2)  
Converts VOR/LOC deviation and bearing analog signals to digital for transmission to the FMCS when the VOR/LOC valid (VOR/LOC super flag) discrete is present.

 (3)  
Converts digital tuning data from the FMCS to analog 2 by 5 tuning data for tuning the DME and VOR/ILS navigation units when the autotune mode discrete from the VHF NAV control panel is present. With the autotune discrete absent, the DAA reverts to the manual tuning mode.


 D.  For additional description, operation and maintenance instructions applicable to the DAA units, (AMM 34-28-01, IRS; 34-55-02, DME; and 34-62-01, FMCS).
 16. EFIS Control Panel
__________________
 A.  The captain's and first officer's EFIS control panels are located on the aft electronics panel (P8). The controls on each panel are subdivided into three sections labelled ADI, HSI and MAP. The MAP section is used with the HSI.
 B.  The ADI controls are as follows:
 (1)  
The BRT control is a rotary potentiometer knob for manual EADI brightness adjustment.

 (2)  
The DH REF readout is a three-digit, LCD display representing selected decision height (DH) in feet.

 (3)  
The DH set knob is used to select DH. It drives the selected DH REF readout.

 (4)  
The RST pushbutton switch is used to manually reset the DH alert.


 C.  The HSI controls are as follows:
 (1)  
The BRT control consists of two concentric knobs. The outer knob controls the overall EHSI brightness. The inner knob controls the WXR raster brightness on the EHSI.

 (2)  
The mode selector has seven positions. They are used to select either the FULL NAV, FULL VOR/ILS, EXP NAV, EXP VOR/ILS, MAP, CTR MAP, and PLAN display modes for the EHSI.

 (3)  
The RANGE selector is a six position rotary switch used to select the weather radar range displayed on the EHSI. The RANGE selector has a traffic control (TFC) push button which engages/disengages the TCAS display on the EHSI when it is pushed.
