 2)  Test Preparations a) Prior to testing system No. 1, the following switches must be in the indicated positions:
 -VHF NAV Transfer Switch . . . . . . . . NORMAL
 -IRS Transfer Switch . . . . . . . . . . NORMAL
 -DFCS MSP: Course Selector No.1 . . . . 000
 -
IRS MSU: L and R Mode Selectors . . . .ATT

 -
IRS ISDU: Press "H" and enter heading of 000


 -Left and Right EFIS Control Panels: HSI Mode Selectors . . . . . . . . FULL VOR/ILS
 -VHF NAV Control Panels: AUTO/MANUAL Switch/Indicator . . . . . .MANUAL
 b)  Next, select a localizer frequency of 108.10 MHz on the VHF NAV control panel. Observe the VHF NAV status on the sensor status display on the FMC CDU. Check that captain's EADI and EHSI glide slope and localizer scales appear; that ILS 1 and 108.10 are annunciated in captain's EHSI; and that RDDMI No. 1 (narrow) pointers are parked at 90 degrees.
 3)  Test Procedure

 a)  To initiate the ILS up/left self-test, press and hold the TEST switch in the UP/LT position, and observe the following displays:
 Captains EADI and EHSI

 *[1]  Captain's EADI and EHSI glide slope and localizer pointers out of view for 3 seconds; then in view displaying 1 dot up and 1 dot left deviation for 23 |5 seconds; then out of view again for as long as UP/LT self-test is actuated.
 b)  Release the TEST switch and verify all ILS indications return to normal.
 c)  Perform the test again with the switch in the DN/RT position. The indications are similar to UP/LT test, but this time the localizer pointers drive right 1 dot, and the glide slope pointers drive down 1 dot.
 d)  Repeat the VOR and ILS self-tests with the VHF NAV transfer switch in BOTH ON 1 position and then in BOTH ON 2 position. Test displays should appear on both the captain's and first officer's instruments.
